The Patrick Mahomes era has galvanized the Kansas City Chiefs fanbase in New York City and across the country over the past five years.
Hell, it’s hard not to see an uptick in fan sentiment when you’ve made it to five consecutive AFC Championship games.
But much like the franchise itself, things weren’t always rosy for John Brown BBQ in Queens.
The owner, Josh Bowen, credits Mahomes with saving his bar.
The key stretch came during the Super Bowl LIV run, in which the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers just one month before the world shut down due to COVID-19.
That Super Bowl run was “by far the busiest days we’ve ever had,” Bowen told Chiefs Wire’s Ed Easton Jr. “And that happened two weeks before everything went to hell.”
Now emerged from the pandemic shutdowns, John Brown BBQ is alive and well – and coming off another Super Bowl victory.
The place was a party this past February when the Chiefs topped the Philadelphia Eagles:
And it expects to be live again for 2023. The bar announced it was selected by the Chiefs to “The Worlds Largest Tailgate,” a global, virtual tailgate session put on by the team. The bar said it would have a film crew on site to capture the scene.
“So come early and get revved up.”
